In 2014, funding was approved by Sonoma County voters for the Santa Rosa Junior College District to utilize Measure H tax bonds for $410 million in upgrades and renovations to SRJC campus buildings over the next decade. Included in the funding was $30 million for the Burbank Auditorium to be completely renovated. The auditorium itself was 77 years-old and in need of significant repair to enhance the space including improving vantage points for the audience and implement ADA upgrades throughout the facility. As a local historical building, the exterior of the building was to remain intact through the construction process.

Upgrades to the space included a complete renovation to the existing theater to a new capacity of 400 seats, and constructing a new multi-purpose Studio Theater with the capacity to seat 200, in addition to lobby expansion. These larger spaces will be utilized by the campus and the community as a whole for lectures, classroom space, black box style theater performances, and dance and music rehearsals and performances. 

In early 2018 shovels hit the ground on the campus renovations, and in 2019 PCD was able to begin the installation of the newest Audio Visual technology available for the sound system upgrades.

In collaboration with TLCD Architecture, Mark Cavagnero Associates, and The Shalleck Collaborative, PCD was able to lend its expertise on the installations that would best fit the design and acoustics of the new, expanded auditorium space.

PCD has long been a proud supporter of theater arts and was pleased to work with Wright Contracting and the SRJC staff to provide an enhanced AV experience for students and audiences alike!
