Starting in 2012, the San Mateo Union High School District (SMUHSD) contracted for renovations at six campuses including refreshing eight theaters. PCD was successful in being awarded some of the projects as a part of the capital construction contracts.

In 2019, PCD was contacted to update the AV systems at all eight theaters at the SMUHSD and completed the upgrades as part of our AV as a Service (AVaaS) program. The opportunity for AVaaS came after years of solid customer service, led by John Rudolph and the PCD field staff. When it was time to upgrade the theater video projection systems, SMUHSD was comfortable with PCD’s history of quality service and reached out to John directly. PCD was able to offer AVaaS through GreatAmerica Financial Services.

AVaaS allows PCD to offer a different approach to AV projects by including Upgrades and Service as part of a budgeted monthly fee. Because of this, SMUHSD did not have to produce capital funds for the upgrades. An eight theater project at six different jobsites could have taken years to complete if the District had to secure capital funding; PCD was able to complete the AVaaS upgrades at all eight theaters within months through the streamlined AVaaS process. SMUHSD was able to get the much needed video system upgrades their theaters required to remain competitive and to maximize revenues. The AVaaS process allows clients to set up operational expenses and receive ongoing maintenance / servicing of the system in a monthly payment.
